It was Marco Polo and the Crusaders who opened trade routes between medieval Europe & the exotic East. Citizens of any village at a highway crossroads had a marketplace of magnificient magnitude, filled with handiwork of artisans from Italy to Arabia. Since travel along the roads was limited by seasons, the last caravan coincided with Harvest Holiday time. What better season or reason, for a Festival!!
